Why did we choose to stay nomads after a layoff?

In the most peculiar twist of fate, my husband, Trevor’s, unexpected layoff in November turned out to be a beautiful gift for our family. 🎁 Yes, it’s been a rollercoaster of challenges, but it’s also been a journey of self-discovery and liberation. 🎢 💼

For nearly five years, we’ve been full-time nomadic travelers, dancing to the beat of our own drum. 🌍💃🏻 But tied to the constraints of corporate America, we realized we weren’t truly living authentically. We craved freedom, autonomy, and the ability to chart our own course. 🗺️✨

With the layoff, we were forced to reevaluate our priorities. We tightened our belts, cut back on expenses, and dove headfirst into new opportunities. 💸💻 Trevor, a talented software engineer, began pitching for freelance gigs, while I ramped up my content creation hustle and made the switch from working 1-2 hours a day to 6-8+. 🚀🎨

Trevor’s passion for front-end web development and UI design, along with his backend engineering skills, found new outlets as he embraced freelance projects of his choosing, setting his own schedule along the way. ⏰💼 Despite the pay cut and the need to secure our own health insurance, the freedom we have gained is priceless. 🌟💸

Without this unexpected turn of events, we might never have had the courage to pursue our dreams of entrepreneurship. 🚀💼 But fate intervened, handing us the opportunity on a silver platter. 🎉 We seized it with gusto (after a month or two of trepidation), driving full speed ahead into a future of our own making. 🛻 💨
