Biweekly update 7/21
Here’s everything we got up to from 2024-07-08 - 2024-07-21.
We left the keys! Didn’t do much the last week as it was hot and we just had to work and get ready for frequent moves.
Peace River
People walking behind our site.
Alligators at night and guy with flashlight that we thought lost his dog.
Golf carts- although we’re totally trying a golf cart this week so we’re hypocrites!
Our favorite thousand trails. River sites are open! Now you have 50 amp electric instead of 30 due to Hurricane Ian repairs. Only 2-3 trailers at a time on river sites in the summer. Place was empty and looked like a resort! Still no sewer for river sites since it’s a flood zone.
Legoland
Went twice. Why. What Lennon bought. First time at water park! Thoughts on slides and score as a water park? Wave pool was the only thing that failed during this revisit and it was on day 2. Funny enough, the roller coaster that we got stuck on which was the reason for this visit was closed both days. Lennon also grew an entire inch overnight and is now only an inch away from riding the horse ride she wants to ride!
We got a dog sitter for the 1st day and they were so kind to offer us a discount for the second day. It’s about 1/3 the price as it is in the Florida keys. We spend anywhere from $50-$160/day for dog sitters on Rover when we can’t take the dogs somewhere. We have a code for you to get $20 off your first booking and we get $20 too!
Life update on RV Queens podcast
Did you listen to the podcast Lia recorded last year? There’s a year over year update of all of the hurdles we’ve jumped through over the last year, what we’ve learned and what’s next for Llama Llama Adventure and Trevor too.
We share some of the challenges we faced growing our business and how we plan to over come them in the long terms say no more and have a minimum buy in and multimonth partnership commitments to provide better results for our clients and more dependable income for us. I don’t know how I forgot to even mention the challenge of not having financial assistance in the form of unemployment or food assistance and “making too much money” to qualify for Medicaid during everything we experienced all because we chose to continue to travel.
Were certainly no strangers to financial challenges and set backs at this point but we just keep rolling.
With all that said, if you need or know anyone with a need for web development services or anyone hiring a full stack software engineer, either part or fulltime remote, we’re all ears.
One challenge we will face with this that
I’m going to start to have to be mindful with again is that we will have to stick to moving on weekends again. No more mid week moves.
Flat tire
Broken lug nut - replaced since this is the third time having issues with it and Advance Auto Parts was just 1/2 mile away.
Ordered one more flow through TST sensor so we can keep that one on our spare to know it’s always ready to go. We had to use our viair portable air compressor to fill it from 65-80 today and it would be nice to not have to change it off the other tire. We’re going to get a complete metal stem installed on it tomorrow too so the TPMS doesn’t break down the rubber on the stem, which we’ve had trouble with on 3 other occasions.
I wonder how many tires we’ve gone through in the last 5 years? It’s a lot. This is why we love Discount Tire for their replacement certificates. We had a bad blow out that damaged the underbelly of the slide and rig in January and had that tire replaced with a certificate at that time but wondering if the other 2 might need to be replaced. They replace failures to 3mm tread depth but we don’t want to wait until failure for safety reasons and I have a feeling we’re near or below 3mm tread depth at this point. We will see if we have to buy 2 or 3 and how that all works out. Tomorrow should cost us somewhere between $0-$1,000. Wish us luck-Also, with noting, we had our truck tires rotated this week and we were surprised that we didn’t need to reset our TPMS system… we’ve never not had to reset them before so that would be really weird if they moved the sensors, which I don’t think they even can do without our sensor key. Soooo, we are wondering if they even rotated them or just moved our truck in the parking lot. Ponder, ponder.
Crystal River
Going to Camping World Manufacturer of Forest River rv’s if we get done with the tire stuff in time tomorrow.
Also need to get photos and videos from around the Sun Retreats resort.
Hunter Springs paddle of Crystal River to take Emerald Cut paddle trail. Had to book a dog sitter for this one since it’s a natural preserve and they strictly do not allow dogs! They also have a paid reservation system even to bring your own boards. It sells out so definitely need to book it ahead, even mid-week!
Dogs are both getting groomed at PetSmart this week as we’ve had a hard time keeping up with their cuts since we’ve been in warm weather since January in Florida. While they’re there we are going to Weeki Wachee Springs to see the mermaids. 🧜🏻♀️
Leaving Thursday open so we can get final shots around the resort and hopefully catch up with our friends that live in Ocala. Not sure if we’re going to them or they’re coming to us that night yet. Depends on how the week unfolds. If we go there Trevor will get to jam with Jonny as he’s a drummer. If they come to us, there’s live music and a wounded warrior fundraiser event at the resort on Thursday night.
We did the snorkeling with the manatees during the winter in 2021 so we’re curious how many manatees we will see this time.
What’s next?
After Crystal River, we’ll be spending a week at Gamble Roger’s State Park in Flagler Beach, and then we’re out of Florida with our first stop being Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah, Georgia for two weeks. We’ve only ever spent the day in Savannah twice so were looking forward to having two weeks there.
We’re going to be having a front hitch installed for our bikes on our truck that we’re pretty excited about! That’s happening while we are in Georgia too as well as having our wheel bearings clean and repacked at Camping World. Getting caught up on maintenance items like this since we don’t have a lot of 2 week stops over the summer as we work our way to Maine for the fall.
Next live will be Sunday August 4th from Savannah, GA
