Biweekly update

Here’s everything we got up to from 2024-05-27 to 2024-06-09.

It’s our 10th wedding anniversary, and 12th anniversary of the day we met

On 2024-06-07 our anniversary started. We say “started” because we celebrate our anniversary from June 7th to June 22nd. We met on June 7th and got married on June 22nd (2 years later).

If you noticed the song we chose for the announcement post, “Wake Up” by Arcade Fire, that was the song we walked down the aisle to at our wedding, and Trevor’s sister Brookann played it on the violin.

Everything we did at Islamorada

We stayed 5 nights at Sun Outdoors Islamorada

This resort is gorgeous! This stay was paid, so stay tuned for some content about the resort, as well as things to do around Islamorada. They have these very cute teal, yellow, and salmon colored cabins which you can’t miss from the road. We got to tour a couple of them, and they’re just as cute on the inside, and right on the waterfront.

Sun Outdoors has kayaks and paddle boards that you can check out for free, so we did some paddle boarding on the ocean with the whole family. We practiced doing cannon balls off the front of the paddle board.

Lennon was also obsessed with the large swimming pool at the resort, so we spent a lot of time in the pool.

Our site at Sun Outdoors Islamorada was really nice. It had a pergola for a bit of shade, and a nice table with chairs so we could have coffee and breakfast outside in the morning sun. We were even able to hang two of our hammocks up between the posts of the pergola.

We sampled spirits at Islamorada Brewery & Distillery

We went to Islamorada Brewery & Distillery, which was fantastic. We did a taste testing of all of their spirits. Everything we tasted was really good, but our favorite was their gin and rum. We ended up buying a bottle of their hibiscus gin, which turns purple when you add lime to it.

After sampling their spirits, we got a couple beers and hung out on their dog-friendly outdoor seating area. It was trivia night, which we were a bit too late to join in on, but Trevor actually knew most of the answers for once (typically we are really bad at trivia).

They also came by our table with a tray of shots. To quote our server, “we come by every 20 minutes with shots, because we’re a fun brewery, not a normal brewery!”. They actually had an impressive assortment of really tasty looking shots, not just basic vodka shots or whatever. Lia had the first jell-o shot she’s had in many years 🤣. No regrets!

We fed the tarpon fish at Robbie’s of Islamorada

We went to Robbie’s of Islamorada to feed the tarpon fish. It did feel a little overly touristy for our taste, but we did almost make friends with a massive pelican who wanted our fish.

We tasted a flight of beers at Florida Keys Brewing

Florida Keys Brewing was also excellent. They had a large outdoor seating area which was dog-friendly behind the brewery. Inside the brewery was super cute too, and they had some pretty solid merch. Actually, they were dog friendly INSIDE the brewery too. We have loved that so many places in the Keys are dog friendly, even indoors, which is super uncommon in the US.

We had a flight of beers to sample all of their local brews. There was also a food truck (tacosjalisco1_and2) at the brewery, so we ordered some delicious vegetarian burritos, and a kid’s quesadilla for Lennon (non-vegan) which was only $2 so she ended up ordering a second.

We spent an afternoon at Founder’s Park

Just a couple minutes down the road from Sun Outdoors Islamorada is Founder’s Park. You can get in for free with your Sun Outdoors parking tag. Lennon played at the playground right by the ocean, and the dogs loved the huge dog park, which separate sections for large dogs and littles.

Trevor and Lennon went to a movie at Tavernier Cinema 5

After Founder’s Park, Trevor and Lennon went to a surprise movie at the local theater. They saw IF, the movie about imaginary friends, which was really good. We always have a couple of blankets in the truck, which comes in handy for getting nice and comfy in movie theaters.

Lia went to the History of Diving Museum

Lia went to the History of Diving Museum for a little alone time.

We went to the local farmers market

Everything we did at Marathon

We stayed 5 nights at Sun Outdoors Marathon

We had some beach time at Long Key State Park and Bahia Honda State Park

We chilled at No Name Pub on Big Pine Key

There were key deer everywhere on Big Pine Key, which we loved. Key deer are a subspecies of white-tailed deer, and the smallest species of North American deer. They can only be found in the Florida Keys.

Lia participated in a Cacao ceremony with her friend Ena, owner of Yoga Keys

We did the Murph workout and we are still sore

We did a Murph workout on 2024-06-05, and we’re still sore from it, 4 days later. The workout is to run 1 mile, do 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, and 300 squats, then run another mile. Normally you break the pull ups, push ups, and squats into 10 sets of 10 pull ups, 20 push ups, 30 squats, but we did an easier version by breaking it up into 20 sets of 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, 15 squats. It was still brutal!

We just arrived at Fiesta Key

Our 5 year nomadiversary is coming up

Our 5 year nomadiversary is on 2024-06-13! We have lived full time in our RV for 5 years, and been on the road full time for 4 years. We lived for 1 year stationary in Boise, Idaho at the start of our journey.

Our carbon monoxide alarm just announced this morning that it’s almost dead and needs to be replaced. They are supposed to last about 5 years, so it’s right on time.
